The Riqueval Tunnel ( mètres) is on the French comune of Bellicourt, in the Aisne département. It allows to go from Bellicourt to Bony. It was built under the canal de Saint-Quentin works between 1801 and 1810, under Napoleon's orders, and it's (with the infrastructure of Mauvages, in the canal de la Marne au Rhin) one of the last locations in the world where there is a actually working system of chain towing. Actually, the tunnel is in use and can be crossed by a tower ship. In its time it was the longest tunnel in the world until the construction of Biassa II tunnel in Italy. == External links == * (Tour through Riqueval Tunnel Site (French) ) * (Official Site of navigable cannal in France(French) ) * (Photos site(French) ) * M.
